[00:00:12.95] Then you've come to the right place. [00:00:14.89] CanLearn.ca offers everything you'll need to know, shown here in 3 easy steps. [00:00:20.99] Step 1 - How Much Money could you get? [00:00:25.63] Well, your eligibility depends on your financial need, [00:00:28.16] and the rules and conditions of the student loan program you're applying to. [00:00:33.13] You can get a general idea of how much you might qualify for by using the estimating available on the CanLearn site. [00:00:41.32] Step 2 - How do you Apply? [00:00:44.75] In Canada, there are 2 main categories of government student loan programs. [00:00:49.61] 1. The federal program, called the Canada Student Loans Program (for full-time and part-time students). [00:00:54.65] 2. And provincial and territorial student financial assistance programs. [00:01:00.06] You'll only need to apply in one place, your province or territory, for these loans. [00:01:05.29] Depending on where you live, you will manage and repay either one or two loans. [00:01:10.90] If you live in one of these 4 provinces, then your provincial-federal loans programs are integrated. [00:01:16.50] That means the province will process your application for both provincial and federal student loans, [00:01:21.28] and you only have to manage and repay one loan. [00:01:24.67] You can do this centrally at the National Student Loans Service Centre. [00:01:28.55] Make sure to sign up for an on-line account with them through CanLearn. [00:01:32.64] If you live in one of these 5 provinces, then your province [00:01:36.46] will still process your application for both provincial and Federal student loans. [00:01:40.76] However, keep in mind that you will need to manage and pay back 2 loans: [00:01:44.66] 1 from the Government of Canada - called the Canada Student Loan [00:01:48.17] and 1 from your provincial government. [00:01:51.21] You can get more detailed information through this link. [00:01:55.13] Your province or territory hasn't been mentioned? [00:01:57.45] Then check out these links on the CanLearn site for more information. [00:02:03.06] Step 3 - How do you Get your Money? [00:02:06.27] Once your province or territory reviews your loan application, [00:02:09.56] you will receive a letter of assessment telling you how much money you'll receive. [00:02:13.25] Next you'll receive your loan documents. [00:02:16.30] You'll need to bring these to your school to confirm your enrolment. [00:02:19.22] Once you've done that, read and sign your loan documents. [00:02:23.40] If you are receiving a Canada Student Loan for part-time studies, [00:02:26.69] you'll also need to sign the Canada Student Loan Agreement (Part-Time), [00:02:30.50] included with your loan documents. [00:02:32.60] Now, send or submit your completed loan documents [00:02:35.24] to the address or addresses provided in your loan agreement. [00:02:40.02] Once the loan documents have been received and verified for completeness, [00:02:43.38] they will be processed. [00:02:45.35] Your money will be issued by cheque or direct deposit to you or your school. [00:02:49.50] Remember, keep your loan documents in order according to year, [00:02:53.15] and put them in 1 place for easy reference. [00:02:56.16] You may need to refer to them in the future once you start paying back your loans. [00:03:00.16] Sign up for an NSLSC on-line account to easily keep your address and status up to date. [00:03:05.76] Applying and managing student loans doesn't have to be a complicated process. [00:03:11.12] Remember, it is your responsibility to keep your personal information up to date [00:03:14.94] with the National Student Loan Service Centre and other service providers.
